Family is at the heart of our business. Dr. Zak joined Rosemore Eye Care in 2012 after completing his studies at Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor’s degree in Economics in 2008 and his doctorate in Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in 2012. His clinical experience in school included a rotation through Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. He continued his training with Dr. Charles Shidlofsky, an expert in neurodevelopmental optometry and pediatric optometry. Through these experiences, Dr. Zak feels quite comfortable in treating most patients. Experience with children as young as 6 months old to children with autism spectrum disorders has prepared Dr. Zak for most clinical scenarios.
As our practice is family oriented, we are prepared to handle many types of issues that may plague your eyes or the eyes of your family members. Dr. Zak is prepared to help with general eye issues such as pink eye, styes, eye pain, visual field loss, floaters, and many other problems. Additionally, he is able to help with systemic medical issues such as diabetes, hypertension, high risk medications (plaquenil among others), brain injury, and more.
Dr. Zak actively participates in InfantSEE, which is a program that gives eye exams free of charge for any infant younger than 1 year old. Dr. Zak is licensed as a therapeutic optometrist and as an optometric glaucoma specialist in the state of Texas. This is the highest level of license that can be obtained by an optometrist in Texas. Dr. Zak is also a current officer of the Northeast Texas Optometric Society (NETOS), which is the local chapter of the Texas Optometric Association (TOA). This group provides vital continuing education to most of the local optometrists in this area of the DFW metroplex.
Dr. Zak married his wife Leah in 2018. Together they have two dogs, Rufus and Scout. Dr. Zak spends his free time playing tennis, playing hockey, traveling, and spending time with his family.
